#Blogpost 2- Your style guide for an Indian wedding.

Hie guys!
Recently my brother got married and experiencing your brother's wedding is one of the happiest things of our lives. Isn't it?
Indian weddings are beautiful with all that drama and fun. But with that comes the hustle. Biggest confusion is the outfits. It's tricky to decide your outfits when so many color and outfit options are available. You want to look perfect and not to be underdressed or overdressed. Thus planning your outfit for every single occasion in itself is a task.
Therefore, this one is to clear that confusion a little and sort out things for you.
Firstly, let's start with the outfit ideas-
1- Timeless classic- Sarees: The ever-versatile sarees can be worn in various ways. If you like them traditional like me, keep it simple and elegant. Or else, show your creative side. To create a statement, try different styles of blouses. Sheer poncho, bell sleeves, back designs etc. You can also go for a corset blouse for an extra length. Draping a saree in itself is a job. ( If you want a separate post explaining ways to drape a saree, let me know. )
Try styling them with different draping techniques.
Give it a modern twist by using some modern techniques of draping. Add a jacket, a belt or wear it over a flowing pair of pants!
Third comes the print and the color. Lots of fabrics, prints and color options to choose from! Always choose the color and the fabric which compliments your skin tone and body shape. Some colors may look dull on you while some can make you look all shabby. Don't keep the overall look too heavy or too light. For example, if you're wearing a heavy embroidered saree, keep your jewellery minimal because that may take the attention of your saree and if you're going for a plain solid colour/borderline saree or a printed one with light colours, add a pair of jewellery (a statement earrings or necklace) to complete your overall look.
2- Gowns- Gowns give a rich and an elegant feel.
Saree gowns, indo- western gowns, gowns layered with crop jackets or sheer ponchos have been recently spotted a lot on the runways of designers like Varun Bahl, Anamika Khanna etc.
3- Lehengas- Lehengas are a no-fail outfit for your family wedding. But try not to stick with the obvious colors. Try integrating florals and pastels, architectural motifs or fabrics like silk and velvet.
4- Dhoti pants- Dhoti is back in style with all that comfort. Dhoti with crop/peplum top, dhoti with a jacket, dhoti with kurta, dhoti with cape and even with sarees!
5- Skirts and crop tops-  Just a perfect option for a bride-to-be on her sangeet/mehendi or for the bridesmaids. This style has recently achieved its popularity and no doubt, it's voguish and unique.

Don't you think it's time to close your basic options like anarkali, saree or a straight cut suit everytime you attend a wedding? Ditch them now when there's so much to choose from. Capes, jackets, sharara's, cigarette pants, high- low kurtas, long kurtas and skirt, palazzos with short or long kurta, asymmetrical kurta's and so much more!

Outfits for Haldi ceremony- Avoid fabrics that can bear a haldi stain. Keep it little yet trendy by wearing a skirt, styled kurtas or a plain saree.
Outfits for sangeet- Sangeet is all peppy and fun. Time for some great pictures and dance. Keep your outfit comfortable for dancing on your favorite numbers. Go for colors like royal blue, bottle green, vine red or for pastels. Pair them with some statement accessories and you're ready to rock that floor.
Draped kurtas, capes, long kurtas with cuts and skirt or with palazzos and sharara's are perfect for the sangeet.

Accessories for your wedding outfit-
You need to be very keen while selecting your accessories for an Indian outfit. Remember, accessories are the most important thing to define your outfit. Also, you don't have to wear everything! For example, anklets or heavy payals, bangles or bracelets, bindi or a big sized mangtika, statement earrings or necklace. A big pair of earring draws attention to your neckline and your hair. It also depends on the type of your outfit, the color and the style. Accessories also include your handbag or the clutch. Go for a contrasting clutch that matches the outfit.
Hairstyles to drool over-
No matter what the occasion is, it's not about just the outfit. Buns, braids, plaits or ever if you want to put your hair down, it greatly influences the look. There are also lots of embellishments to choose from. A pretty hair accessory can make your hairstyle just perfect.
Those perfect pair of footwear-
The very first thing is whether you want to go for flats or heels. From a traditional kolhapuri to a bling golden stilettos, consider factors like your outfit, comfort and color combinations. If you want to expose your henna designs(in case) strapped ones are the best option.
Getting that makeup right-
There is a diverse range of choices to choose from. Keeping it traditional, or highlighting your eyes, sticking to flaunt your best feature or to go a little more with bold looks. You can also keep it simple and natural by a nude makeup look.
Nails are important. Paint them with matching or contrasting shades.
What not to do-
1- Do not wear outfits which are too tight or revealing.
2- Don't go for anything casual or over the top.
3- Do not skip your jewelry because Indian weddings are gala affairs. If you don't like much, wear light but don't skip them totally.
4- Do not stick to basic colors like black or white. Add colors and trending designs to your outfits.
5- Focus on your complete look. Hairstyle, accessories, makeup, footwear, outfits everything is equally important.
