#Blogpost 11- Smelling positivity with Sugandhco.

There are various things we Lucknowites are proud about and one of them is Sugandhco. Fragrances and exotic itar have always been an integral part of Oudh's culture. The credit for patronizing and popularizing the perfumery in Lucknow goes to the Nawabs of Oudh, particularly to Nawab Wajid Ali Shah.
In 1850's, when the itar industry was in the doldrums, Mr. Chhunnamal Vijayvergiya initiated a perfumery business in Lucknow, that would reach the masses. Smell that represents our culture and elegance. This initiative took place in 1980 with Sugandhco and in no time these innovative blends came into high demand.
The fragrances created here are of high quality. They fuse the traditional knowledge of perfumery into modern trends serving us with some great smells to flatter.

The process employed to extract itar is still age old. Simply explained, itar is the pure extract of flowers in sandalwood oil. It forms an ideal base for perfumes as, during distillation, the original perfume of sandalwood vanishes and the oil captures the fragrance of the flower. Nowadays, they are also using modern techniques with fruits creating fruity fragrances.
Sugandhco adopted a novel strategy to market its products in the country. Instead of having retail outlets in different places it opted for a direct selling approach. The supplies go from India to places like Dubai, US, Australia etc.
It sometimes feels that people have some kind of mental block when all they want are western fragrances and don't know why are not convinced with the local ones.
Along with some wide varieties of male, female and unisex atars, Sugandhco offers floor fragrances, cooler fragrances, air sprays and odor neutralizers, bathroom and laundry fragrances and also water compounds educating us that fragrances have various traditional uses too.
Also, the Aromatherapy and benefits of essential oils are not something that we imported from abroad. That is something from our Vedas. Medicinal benefits of herbs and different oils like jasmine, Tea tree, clove,
Lemon etc. is already known to us. To your surprise, Sugandhco produces over 600 herbal and other essential oils in their purest form for spas, aroma, industrial use and personal use.
We the Lucknowites droll over them and so the masses all over the globe. This story of Lucknawi itar has a long way to go.
I recently experienced smelling coffee and chocolate. Some exotic candles and face oils too!

'A woman's perfume tells more about her than her handwriting.' - Christian Dior
Given below are some of the perfume hacks that every woman must know. Choice of perfume aside, there is some strategy behind how and where to spray.

1- Apply a thick layer of vaseline on the area before spraying. This helps the fragrance to linger for a longer time.
2- Keep your skin moisturised. Dry skin tend to absorb some scent and fades it away more quickly.
3- The sweet spot is right after showering when your skin is slightly damp.
4- Never rub your perfume. That destroys the top notes.
5- Go beyond wrists, shoulder line, behind your knee and ears, stomach and chest and onto warmer spots of your body.
6- Choose more potent smells like sandalwood which lasts longer if longevity is your major concern.
7- Layer your fragrances. Shower gel, scrub, body butter and then the mist.
8-Store them properly is a cool, dry place as humidity spoils those scent molecules.
9- Reapply throughout the day.
10- Spray perfume onto your hair brush and run it through your hair. They will smell amazing!
