Style influencers have been pairing tees with quirky phrases, and perhaps a sassy French word or two, with pencil skirts, culottes, and even pantsuits for a high-low look that can go from the corporate catwalk to late-night cocktails.
In this post, I will tell you some tips and tricks to style your solid or a graphic slogan tee-shirt.
Take out that favorite tee-shirt from the wardrobe because a T-shirt is the most versatile styling piece in your closet.
Look 1- T-shirt and blazers
Layer a structured blazer with your t-shirt, matching pants, and a belt. Add some statement jewelry to complete your high street look. My favorite is pastel blazers.
Look 2- T-shirt and jackets (Denim and leather)
Throw a moto jacket over it. Pair it with black sunglasses. Your weekend graphic tee game will remain strong.
Don't underestimate denim jackets. A denim jacket with a T-shirt, high thigh socks, and skirt, how cute is that!
Look 3- T-shirt and maxi skirts
Tie your t-shirt pairing them with a maxi skirt. A maxi skirt in itself gives that easy-breezy feel. Add a handcuff, hat or a head wrap.
In another way, you can style them with your leather skirt and boots, or tuck your tee-shirt with a knee length skirt with your favorite pair of sandals. For a schoolgirl look, all you need is a jacket, plaid skirt, and booties along with your tee-shirt.
Look 4- T-shirt and shorts
If the skirt is not your thing, throw some tomboy or sporty look by wearing your favorite pair of shorts with the tee shirt, sneakers or a hat probably. You can add belts and boots as well.
Look 5- Add some drama!
Pair your tee-shirt with a faux fur coat or a sparkly skirt. A leather trouser or a patterned skirt if you are bold enough to experiment with that look.
Look 6- T-shirt and distressed jeans
Distressed or damaged jeans is my favorite piece of clothing. Pair your t-shirt with skinny or damaged jeans. Try colors like white, dark brown, deep blue etc.
Look 7- T-shirt and shirt
Wear your solid t-shirt with a check print boyfriend button-down shirt along with your sneakers for a casual day look.
Look 8- T-shirt and oversized cardigans/ bomber jackets
This one is effortless and yet stylish. On-the-go look with a pair of shoe, some bracelets, and sunglasses.
You can also keep your outfit simple which will make your tee-shirt design or print to shine. Keeping it minimal for example with a black pant and a hat.
Try incorporating some details. A white blazer, a printed pair of heels, embroidered skirt etc. Don't be afraid to experiment with some colors and quirky jewelry. Or just stick to the classic combination- your tee- shirt, blue jeans and your favorite heels/Shoe.
Coming up with the choice of tee-shirt, to keep the look edgy, opt for a simple, yet bold, black-and-white tee with some cool slogans or you can opt for a solid t-shirt too.
Also, I have some DIY ideas for you guys to change that boring old piece of t-shirt into a totally new obsession.
DIY 1-
I personally did this one. All you need is a good pair of scissors and blades.
Take a baggy, round neck tee-shirt. Draw a V-shape at the front and cut it, avoiding the collar. The shirt will be a shoulder fall and the collar will look like a choker. How cool!
Now take your blade and make cuts at different parts of the tee (both front and back.)
DIY 2-
Cut your t-shirt collar from one side and stretch it a little for the fabric to adjust itself making it an off-shoulder. Also, if you want to crop your tee-shirt, cut it from below with the help of your scissor for approximately 2 to 3 inches or as per your choice.
